GSA Global Supply Catalog and Ordering Site
Supply Operations (Global Supply) is a multibillion-dollar business unit of the General Services Administration that provides supplies to US government and military customers around the world using a unique part number and a National Stock Number (NSN). Millions of orders are fulfilled each year through a variety of channels, including catalog and web shopping, system-to-system requisitions, and phone/fax. The Global Supply Special Order Program (SOP) offers full-service acquisition support for a wide range of tools, equipment, appliances, and other items. Three acquisition centers, two call centers, and the GSA National Customer Service Center handle all support operations.
GSA online catalog’s purpose is to provide government users, whether military or civilian, with full cradle to grave procurement services. By design, this allows customer agencies to concentrate on their main missions. Our promise to you:
· Ongoing discussions with suppliers to deliver things faster and at a lesser cost;
· Requisition-based ordering — eliminating the need for our customers to comparison shop or record three sources;
· FAR and other government purchasing restrictions such as Javits-Wagner-O’Day (JWOD) and Executive Orders are guaranteed to be followed.
· The GSA National Customer Service Center provides excellent customer service.
· Government purchase card or AAC/DoDAAC as a payment alternative
The National Stock Number (NSN) system is used to place many orders. NSNs are self-contained acquisition platforms. Each NSN is assigned a unique configuration under the Federal Logistics Information Service program to fulfill a specific procurement demand within the Federal Community. Customers just need to requisition the things they need, and they can count on predictable, thorough, and dependable procurement support every time because item configuration is known, and Global Supply pre-competes NSNs.
All National Stock Numbers (NSNs) are assigned to a Federal Supply Class (FSC) that defines the individual item commodity. Between GSA and the Defense Logistics Agency, the Federal Community has access to a total of eight million NSNs. There are hundreds of Federal Supply Classes to choose from. The commodities listed below are just a sample of what GSA Global Supply supports and manages.

For federal users worldwide, both military and civilian, GSA Global Supply offers over 1.7 million goods with part numbers. We’re happy to report that all of those GSA Global Supply part-numbered items are now displayed and available for MILSTRIP ordering on the FedMall site, thanks to substantial coordination with DLA. On the FedMall home page, type a search keyword or choose the “GSA Global Supply” shopping corridor from the dropdown menu.
Many GSA part-numbered items incorporate a standard prefix to aid in item identification and guarantee efficient processing of customer orders, as shown below.
Best-in-Class
OMB recently named GSA Online Catalog a Best-in-Class (BIC) government-wide acquisition solution. The program was assessed against the five primary criteria specified in the OMB’s Category Management Guidance Document Version 1.0 to acquire this designation:
· Detailed definitions of needs and planning processes;
· Appropriate pricing techniques;
· Demand management strategies based on data;
· Strategies for category and performance management; and
· Reviews that have been independently validated.
Part of the review process included proving potential savings to federal agencies, including direct cost comparisons and administrative savings that customers could obtain by letting GSA manage the administrative burden of acquiring common goods.
800,000 New Items
GSA online catalog has significantly extended its product portfolio, now offering over 800,000 new items. Instead of National Stock Numbers, these products are identifiable by part numbers. The majority will have one of two prefixes: FJSA for Janitorial-Sanitation (JanSan) supplies or FMRA for Maintenance, Repair, and Operating (MRO) supplies.
JanSan offers a wide range of cleaning supplies, with Non-Motorized Cleaning Equipment and Trash Receptacles being the most popular. A great variety of items are included in MRO:
Tools:
· Hand tools;
· Power tools; and
· Tool bags.
Hardware:
· Electrical;
· Lighting;
· HVAC, and
· Pumps.
Industrial supplies
The new products, like all GSA Global Supply items, are simple requisitions that don’t require comparative shopping for orders beyond the micro-purchase threshold.
As a result, enterprise-wide savings are gained because much of the purchase, product inspection, and supplier interface overhead has been eliminated.
